About CREW

Who We Are
NAME:  CREW
LOCATION: Albuquerque, New Mexico
MISSION:  Community Service
PROJECTS: Seniors Helping Seniors
We are a group of seniors with some basic home repair skills, and we want to share them.  For the past 25 years, CREW (Community Renovation Empowering Women) has focused on building and renovating primarily for agencies serving women and children.  We have taken on large projects, such as gutting and re-doing bathrooms for Peanut Butter & Jelly, creating a beautiful conference room for Enlace, and remodeling the Laguna battered women’s shelter.   Now we need to take on smaller projects and have decided to focus on helping Seniors with their home maintenance and repair.

CREW began in 1995 when a group from the Laguna Pueblo approached Denise Wheeler, a home repair instructor with the University of New Mexico’s Continuing Education Department, to consider renovating a shelter for women and children who were victims of domestic violence.  Denise called fifteen former students and CREW began.  2019 marks CREW’s 25th anniversary with over 120 volunteers of different ages, occupations, ethnicities, and nationalities. CREW is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and depends on donations for all of its tools and supplies. Contact CREW if you can:
